The Friends of Oakland Animal Services (FOAS) Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that our new Executive Director will be none other than Ann Dunn. Ann is soon leaving her position as Director of Oakland Animal Services (OAS) after four years of diligent work and stellar accomplishments. After a well-deserved break, she will assume her new role with FOAS on August 5, 2024.
Many FOAS supporters know Ann from her work at OAS and her previous role as founder and Executive Director of Cat Town. She is well-known and respected throughout our community as a strong advocate and a visionary leader. We are grateful and excited that she will be working in partnership with the FOAS board and staff, OAS staff and volunteers, and all our supporters to more fully realize our mission of bringing health, happiness and homes to Oakland’s animals.
Trish Roque, FOAS Board President, says: “This is a pivotal time in FOAS’s history: we have an incredibly supportive community; our partnership with Oakland Animal Services has never been stronger; and now, with Ann’s leadership, I believe FOAS’s impact will continue to be transformational.”
And from Ann Dunn: “FOAS supporters have made it possible for Oakland Animal Services to experience the transformation it has achieved over the last few years, including seeing the lowest euthanasia rate in OAS’s history. I am thrilled and honored to join the incredibly passionate board and staff of FOAS to support the new OAS Director, Emily Wood, and her team as they continue to make OAS a model municipal shelter!”
We are eagerly looking forward to keeping you informed of FOAS’ many future accomplishments under Ann’s leadership!
