
Friends of Oakland Animal Services funds activities and staff positions that are designed to help Oaklanders keep their pets and keep them healthy, encourage fostering and adopting of animals in need, and increase the live release rate of Oakland Animal Services (OAS). Our funding areas include:
- Adoption Program (all species)
- Dog/Puppy Foster Program
- Cat/Kitten Foster Program
- Small Animal Program (includes foster & adoption programs for rabbits)
- Dog Playgroups
- Transfer Program
- Community Outreach (free vaccinations, veterinary check-ups, and spay/neuter services for low-income Oakland residents)
- Community Cat Program
- Emergency and specialized medical care
- General supplies to support the daily operations at OAS, including providing all food for the shelter animals, and supplies for the volunteer program
- Funding special projects (e.g. creation of play yards) and equipment (e.g. veterinary equipment)
