Mendocino arrived at Oakland Animal Services as a stray with Parvovirous, a serious illness that can be deadly without immediate care.
He was frightened, weak, and sick. But he wasn’t alone.
Thanks to FOAS supporters, he was able to receive CPMA (Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibodies, a new parvovirus treatment), recuperate in a patient foster home, and attend shelter playgroups once he recovered and returned to the shelter for adoption.
Every day, someone was there for him.
Every day, he was surrounded by love.
And slowly… he began to regain his strength and show his goofy personality.
Today, Mendocino is healthy, happy, and adopted!
Consistent monthly donations help ensure that the team working at OAS can quickly respond to sick animals like Mendocino, who needed immediate care to save his life.
With your help, animals get the opportunity to flourish at Oakland Animal Services, no matter when they come in.
This month only, the first 50 supporters who join at $20 or more per month can choose to receive a special-edition Animal Allies T-shirt, created exclusively for new members through the end of February.
Watch a video of Mendocino’s story
From Mendocino’s (now Franklin) humans:
Mendocino is, of course, a good boy. His name now is Franklin, and he is settling in nicely in our sleepy corner of San Francisco.
He’s not the biggest fan of the uphill parts of our walks, but the sniffaris and treats for checking in definitely make up for it.
We’re so happy to have him be part of our family, and that will only grow as we get to know each other.
